If you don't LOVE every single aspect of Maria Bamford, I don't ever want to talk to you for any length of time about any single thing. She is wonderful, and anybody who says otherwise is wrong and stupid and wrong again, but also very very stupid.
I'm glad people are starting to realize and vocalize that notion. The rape-y-ness of the current crop of open mic'ers around the country has been irritating me for several years. Just know this: it's not shocking or edgy or pushing the envelope (or whatever you kids say) if someone says virtually the same thing at every other open mic night in every other city (and they do). See also: "dead hooker."
Screw Leno and the airport hanger full of cars he rode in on. Why should anyone care about a guy who doesn't care about anyone but himself? He pushed Johnny Carson out, he stabbed David Letterman in the back, he doesn't mind pushing Conan out & trampling Jimmy Fallon into the wee hours of the night.. I'm pretty sure he'd stab his mom in the eye if he thought he could squeeze a few dollars out of it somehow.
Letterman's right - it's all about money. Jay keeps talking about how he's never touched a dime of his Tonight Show money. For whose benefit is he saying that? Why am I supposed to be impressed by this? Is that supposed to make me like him now?
Bill Hicks' assessment of Leno as a money hording corporate shill rings true.
I think this is now a tradition for Kathy Griffin to curse live on CNN's New Years Eve show. She did the same thing last year: http://www.comedynews.org/story.php?title=kathy-griffin-uses-hacky-comeback-to-heckler-ny-post-loses-mind
Dane Cook happens to be one of my favorite comedians. He never lets me down, and makes me laugh over and over again, even if I've heard the same joke a thousand times on his tv specials, cds, or dvds. I own this DVD and, absolutely find it hilarious. It made a great gift for me! Everyone I've shown it to quotes it over and over, and they can't do it as good as DANE himself, but just remembering Dane doing the joke brings back the laughter. Dane impresses me every time I see him perform, even in those that have transitioned to film. I was unsure he could do it as an actor, but he's done far better than I ever expected. Check out My Best Friend's girl with Kate Hudson. That's my favorite of his movies. He is also in Employee of the Month with Jessica Simpson, and Good Luck Chuck with Jessica Alba as well. Be sure to share his dvds/movies with your friends.
